When I read the editorial in the Diario de Juarez, entitled "What they want from us? ( http://www.nuestramirada.org/forum/topics/que-quieren-de-nosotros ), two words caught my attention. The first was "As information workers want to tell us what they want from us what we publish or intend to cease to publish, knowing what to expect. " I think this sentence is a request of truce, nor any request for negotiation. The sentence is clear, it is the recognition aloud what many know, the full power of the drug in this country and the specific request of clear rules to an actor who works in unpredictable ways.
The second sentence was: "You are, at present, the de facto authorities in this city, because the controls have been instituted legally do anything to prevent our partners continue to fall, although we have been repeatedly required. Nor do in this paragraph any request for respite or outline of negotiation. El Diario de Juarez, has the courage to put in black and white, the feeling of a great number of Mexicans, to name the real power in many regions of the country operates outside any institutional constraint. They are the law and against the evidence "irrefutable" (as stated by the publisher) of this power, calls for a minimum of rationality, a rare commodity in this country so hurt.
Reading this editorial, far from seeming like a surrender, it seems a risky strategy, without it, "to name the unnamable, it closed by the collective unconscious: we are hostages while actors useful in a scenario in which too many speculations and missing information. It is a white dart to the heart of the system is a message to society, not drug traffickers, is a message addressed to President Calderon and his "politics" of security. Hence the nervousness of formal power, so the officials barricaded hasty statements on false headers "narcos truce to ask," focusing on the same logic with which the mainstream media tend to simplify reality.
after me still images from my last visit to Ciudad Juarez for a couple of months, my impression at the deterioration of public space, streets empty and the evidence constant "war." "Arrangements" tacit to live in fear, "programs of action" arising from this fear. The entrenchment of urban rifles richest areas, the hostile landscape of the maquilas as post-apocalyptic scenario of extracting value from the bodies. I remember my own estrangement (recorded in a diary over two years of following these issues and I've lost in mysterious ways) to discover that there Juarenses as families and portraits at the mall everyday Rio Grande Mall, located in Paseo Triunfo de la República and Adolfo Lopez Mateos, right where Luis Carlos Santiago Orozco 21-year-old photojournalist from the Journal of Juarez was killed and another wounded comrade hit by two bullets. I have massed in the throat the voice and face of the mother of one of the accused in the slaughter of Salvarcar Villas, which I received at home for me to learn the meaning of what the extreme vulnerability and lack of law.
No, the real power to ask what to expect, I do not surrender, but a way to return the size of the disaster, not just with rhetoric, or the army in the streets.
What they want from us? We do not want to agree, we want to understand ... and know what to expect. The power of the paralegal is a fact hardly objectionable.
